After Gandalf rides to Minas Tirith, he enters the ancient Gondorian archives full of old scrolls and records of days long ago. He finds a scroll written by Isildur himself describing the Ring he took from the finger of Sauron. He closes the narrative with a copy of the inscription on the Ring, which was fading rapidly.
In the Fellowship of the Ring, this prop map can be seen clearly in the archives scene. This sheet uses a unqiue calligraphy combining an old Celtic font with the style of Tolkien's alphabets. I have rewritten the entire passage on a large (11"x17") sheet using an old fashioned dip pen and India Ink to give the writing an old, faded appearance. The paper is then aged using three seperate methods to match the look of the original prop.
